Athletics Coach: David Kennedy

In recent years Moyle Park College Athletics team has enjoyed considerable success both in cross country and track and field. We are very lucky to be able to avail of a large area of pitches which allows our students to train for both long and short distances. The school always has a strong presence at West Leinster Championships and other events held in the Dublin area.

2015 was a huge year for the athletics team as we secured our first ever All Ireland cross-country title trough the phenomenal efforts of Louis O’Loughlin. Louis went on to achieve the same feat in 2016. He is also the current national champion at 800 metres. Recently, Moyle Park has also medalled in the Leinster ‘B’ Championships when Conor Behan took gold in 2015.

The Track and Field championship in Santry are always the highlight of the Athletics calendar. Every year Moyle Park brings a huge team of athletes who compete in a wide range of events including sprints, relays, long distance and the high jump. We are developing a proud tradition in sprinting with our teams regularly making finals in Santry. Success was tasted last year when John Ojewumi took gold in the highly competitive minor final at the West Leinster championships. More success is sure to follow.

The Athletics team are always looking for new members and any students interested in getting involved are very welcome to attend training which is held every Wednesday after school.
