Art is a popular subject in Moyle Park College.

We now have First to Sixth year Art students and LCA pupils. We also hold a weekly Art Club which offers a creative space after school for all students, particularly those who don’t study the subject.

We explore and develop all areas of the Art curriculum in new and fresh ways in order to broaden and encourage each student’s creativity, visual literacy and cultural interests while preparing them for the project-based Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate examinations.

The Art Department is involved in many projects from artwork for the Marist Celebrations, guest workshops with artists from the National College of Art and Design, with local graffiti artist Jess Tobin, and textile designer Elaine Peden.

The Art students have also designed and created staging for various school productions and plays, as well as costuming.

The Art Department at Moyle Park welcomes students from the International summer school during the summer months and lots of beautiful work is created during this such as ceramics, creating artwork for the themed discos each week, spraypainting and tie dying textile projects.

Trips to exhibitions, films, heritage sites and workshops throughout the year are arranged to enhance the learning experience and stimulate the students’ creativity.

The learning that happens in the Art, Craft and Design Department is interconnected with many different subjects and areas of day-to-day life, it is a key aim of this department that students become aware of the benefits and career possibilities which lead on from studying Art.
